Response to the Care Act 2014 regulations and guidance consultation

The Equality and Human Rights Commission welcomed the opportunity to respond to the government's consultation on draft regulations and statutory guidance for the Care Act 2014. Adult social care is an area that the Commission has a strong interest in as it is intrinsically linked to the protection and promotion of the human rights and equality of people needing care and support and their families.

Our response recommends that the Care Act 2014 regulations and guidance explicitly highlights European Convention of Human Rights and Equality Act 2010 obligations of local authorities when carrying out their adult social care functions.’
