Modern Slavery Bill, House of Lords Committee Stage, Briefing Part 1 Clause 45, 8 December 2014

This briefing supports Amendments 78, 79, 80, 80A, 82, 82A, 83 83A, 84, 93 and 94 to the Modern Slavery Bill. The Commission's analysis indicates that these Amendments improve the protections in the Bill by clarifying and simplifying the circumstances in which victims of slavery and trafficking benefit from the statutory defence to prosecution, and the aim and objectives of the National Referral Mechanism.
